This 2015-2016 school year is my sixteenth year as Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher here at Bluejacket High School. I received my Bachelor degree in Home Economics Education from Oklahoma State University in 1982. Before that I graduated from Dale High School and completed my Associate degree from NEO Junior College.  After staying home with my two children during their first few years, I began teaching at a preschool in Stillwater. When we moved to Claremore, I began substitute teaching. I completed requirements for teaching elementary at Northeastern State University and taught 2nd grade one year before we moved again to the Miami area.

I love the subject matter that I teach and even more the age group of my students. Every day is a good day to learn something new! This year I am teaching Financial Literacy, a variety of Family and Consumer Sciences coursework, and Tween Life to 8th graders. My hope is that all my students gain skills and information from my classes that will help them enhance one or more aspects of their lives.

My husband Troy, a manager of a YRC freight terminal, and I have two children. Our son, Kenton, is a firefighter in Miami and married to our daughter-in-law, Jeni, who teaches math at Fairland and coaches softball. Our first, precious grandson, Kason, is three years old. And now, I am excited to say that we are anxiously awaiting grandchild number two, a little girl in December. Our daughter, Victoria, is also a math teacher. She teaches at Seneca, Missouri and coaches cross-country and track.
