This 2017-2018 school year is my eighteenth year as Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher here at Bluejacket High School. I received my Bachelor degree in Home Economics Education from Oklahoma State University in 1982. Before that I graduated from Dale High School and completed my Associate degree from NEO Junior College.  After staying home with my two children during their first few years, I began teaching at a preschool in Stillwater. When we moved to Claremore, I began substitute teaching. I completed requirements for teaching elementary at Northeastern State University and taught 2nd grade one year before we moved again to the Miami area.

I love the subject matter that I teach and even more the age group of my students. Every day is a good day to learn something new! This year I am teaching Financial Literacy, a variety of Family and Consumer Sciences coursework, and Tween Life to 8th graders. My hope is that all my students gain skills and information from my classes that will help them enhance one or more aspects of their lives.

My husband Troy, a manager of a YRC freight terminal, and I have two children. Our son, Kenton, is a firefighter in Miami and married to our daughter-in-law, Jeni, who teaches math at Fairland and coaches softball. We have two grandchildren by them. Kason and Kamdyn are so much fun! Our daughter, Victoria, has returned to being a student after teaching math and coaching track. She is now in physical therapy school in Missouri and is married to our son-in-law, Clayton, who works in sales.
